Enhanced Parental Leave
With our focus on helping patients and their caregivers we seek to help our employees who – as parents – are also caregivers. We are committed to developing a culture of inclusion where employees are able to develop their careers with us over time, and at the same time feel supported as they welcome new additons to their family.
- Maternity, Adoption, Surrogacy & Shared Parental leave
This relates to leaves for the primary parent or shared primary parents. If you’ve worked for GW for a minimum of 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the baby is due, you will be eligible to receive 20 weeks of paid leave at your normal full salary, followed by a further 19 weeks of paid leave at the prevailing statutory rate. You may also take a further 13 weeks of leave on an unpaid basis if you need a more extended period with your family.
There is no repayment of the enhanced pay required in the event that you do not return from leave although we seek to encourage employees to return and continue to develop their careers with us as they add to their families.
- Non-birth leave
This relates to leave for the secondary parent (often referred to as Paternity leave). If you’ve worked for GW for a minimum of 26 weeks by the end of the 15th week before the baby is due, you’ll be entitled to two weeks of paternity leave at your normal full salary from the baby’s birth date.
- Other Parental Leave
In addition to the above, GW is keen to facilitate additional unpaid parental leave in line with statutory guidelines.

Right to Work in the UK
The UK Government has taken steps to reduce net migration to the UK by limiting the number of overseas workers from outside the EEA coming to the UK for employment. Consequently, whilst we are able to consider applications from overseas workers from outside the EEA (who require a Tier 2 General Visa) we can only employ them if we can provide evidence that there are no other suitable candidates available from inside the EEA. Therefore all Non-UK/EEA nationals’ applications will be kept on hold until we have pursued all candidates who currently have the right to work in the UK.
